Core Indications : Liver-Kidney & Blood Deficiency
Traditionally used to nourishes liver and kidneys, replenishes Qi and blood, supports hair roots, and maintains natural shine.
In TCM, hair health depends on Kidney Essence and Liver Blood. When deficient, hair may become dull, weak, grey, or prone to falling. This classic medicinal-food soup combines Fleece Root Flower, Prepared Rehmannia, black beans, and traditional herbs to tonify liver-kidney and blood—traditionally supporting darker, stronger hair and a healthier complexion.
Dry, dull, greying, or shedding hair may signal poor internal nourishment. TCM links hair to Liver Blood and Kidney Essence; late nights, stress, and overwork can affect vitality.

Ingredients and Their TCM Functions
The Blood & Essence Builders – Fleece Root Flower & Black Beans
These two are a powerhouse pair. Both are black, which TCM says directly enters the Kidney meridian. Fleece Root Flower is to enrich Liver Blood and Kidney Essence to reverse greying, strengthen tendons, and calm the mind. Black beans are highly nutritious plant-based proteins loaded with iron, anthocyanins, and fiber—they build blood, nourish the Kidneys, and promote diuresis to gently flush out toxins.
The Double Dates – Black Dates & Red Dates
This pairing covers both ends. Black dates specifically target the Kidneys to deeply nourish essence, while red dates target the Spleen and Stomach to ensure you actually digest and absorb all this richness. Together, they provide natural sweetness and gentle blood-building support without causing stagnation.
The Qi– Codonopsis Root
“Qi generates Blood.” You can eat all the iron-rich foods in the world, but without enough Qi, your body can’t transform them into usable blood cells. Codonopsis Root provides the driving energy to metabolize these heavy, rich ingredients so your bone marrow can actually produce more blood.
The Support Herbs – Goji Berry & Dried Longan
Goji nourishes Kidney-Liver essence to sharpen eyesight and reduce dizziness. Longan directly nourishes Heart Blood to calm palpitations and the mild anxiety that often comes with chronic blood deficiency (feeling overwhelmed or easily startled).
The Balancer – Coix Seed
Blood tonics are naturally sticky and heavy, which can cause bloating or water retention. Coix Seed is the smart “release valve”—it gently drains mild dampness and promotes urination to prevent the soup from weighing you down, ensuring you absorb the good stuff without the puffiness.
Recommended Usage
A gentle tonifying food therapy.
