· For Dry Coughs : Pears are considered excellent for soothing a dry cough and sore throat, as their moistening nature counteracts dryness in the lungs. A classic home remedy is steamed pear with honey or rock sugar.
· For Congestion with Phlegm : While also used for phlegmy coughs, their use in cases of “dampness” should be considered carefully, as their moist nature might not be suitable for everyone with this condition.
· Balancing the Cooling Nature : You can balance the pear’s cooling property by cooking or steaming it and pairing it with warming herbs like ginger or cinnamon. This is especially recommended for those with a sensitive digestion.

Common Usage and Preparation
1. Tea / Decoction : Steep in hot water for 5-10 minutes. Can be re-steeped several times. or Simmer on the stove for a richer flavour.
